First lets start with the sad news. Zac has passed on now. We miss our boy very very much :/
Next I got married and had to plan a whole wedding in under a month. Woooo talk about hectic. And last but not least we are getting things settled in our new home and new town and our breeding schedule will hopefully get back on track. We are looking to change out a few of our breeding stock so you if know anyone looking for a one and a half year old companion bunny we have at least three sweetie pies who need homes.

First lets start off saying that Lola is going to be retired. No more breeding for her from now on as she is 2 and a half and had some minor complications birrthing her last litter. So putting her first and foremost shes better off safe than sorry. I might put her up for adoption. I am not sure yet but if your interested feel free to ask me. She would make an excellent cuddle bunny after you spend some one on one time with her. Next Zac is very healthy. When I got him everyone said he wasnt going to live long. That he was sick, and very unhealthy. Well he proved them wrong. Zac may not have been well cared for but for a four yr old bunny he is in amazing health now. He actually gained some weight and has a very healthy shiny coat now!!! Thirdly Jessie seems to be doing very well. Gaining weight at a nice slow pace shes a week along with her pregnancy. Im almost positive she took. She is very crabby and does not like her tummy touched or hands inside her cage. Fingers crossed hoping all goes well for her this would be her first litter. In a few days i should be able to feel tiny little kits the size of olives in her abdomen!!! So exciting. Last and certaintly not least. Mrs. Flower Power is quite chunky and doing very well. You can see alot of movement in her tummy. Also her tummy is very hard. Fingers crossed that everything will go well. Flower is bigger than my other does but she makes the smallest full grown rabbits. Thumper is very small and mixing him with Flower works out very well. Also Thumpers short ears balance with Flowers Eeyore ears. And the two make a lovely thick fluffy coat on their babies. Again the size of the babies is very petite. Hopefully this litter will be as lovely as the first! Daphne and elvis were bred together. all seemed to be going well. daphne gave birth 4/4/13 as planned. five normally formed healthy looking kits. she neglected them and left them cold unfortunatly when i came home to find them i was to late too save the poor darlings. im on the fence about breeding her again. time to talk to a few breeders and get some opinions. if anyone has reasons for this please feel free to comment. i know some reasons could be stress or just lack of interest in caring for them
Thumper and Lola have had a few shots at making good looking bunnies. I havent been satisfied with the mix that they create so hopefully Twister and Lola mixing will be great! Twister was also bred with Jessie though im not positive that she took fingers crossed we will have better luck thi
This time around i decided to try Twister out. I bred him with Lola. Lets just say Lola liked him quite alot. i have a much better feeling about this time around. Im curious to see how big the babies will be considering Twisters extremely petite size. It will be interesting to see what traits get passed down from Thum
As you know we were hoping for bunnies. None of my females had babies althought they all had false pregnancies. I fear that maybe i was too hasty with the breedings last time. Trial and error is the only way to learn. This time around I am going to breed Twister with Lola ,as he is finally old enough. Although there will be no bunnies ready for Easter hopefully we will have more luck with thiss go 'round
starting this morning feb 7th i have been checking on flower and jessie nonstop i thuink im driving them crazy either that or boring them. they dont even seem to notice me. i changed cages again so everything is nice and clean for new bunnies when they come. now we play the waiting game. im expecting flower to kindle tomoro afternoon as for jessie im not quite sure what to expect as this is her first breeding. hopefully tomoro we will have new babies. of course as luck would have it its supposed to be the biggest blizard in 40 years. as always fingers crossed for a safe delievery and hopefully everyone has a safe weekend be careful and stay warm. you guys will be the first too know when we have babies <3
Jamie Now since we are into february we are getting ready for the baby bunnies to come!!! In four to seven days we will hopefully have two litters! We are so excited around here waiting for bunnies. ill keep you guys updated and let you know when the babies come. wish flower & jessie luck :)
a few people have expressed concern about breeding daphne and jessie with thumper. yes thumper is the father to both does. i have done some research and talked to a couple breeders as well as vets. breeding like this is called in/line breeding. weighing the pro's and con's was the first thing i did. line breeding generally does not produce complications. i do have my doubts because my bunnies are all like my children but i am going to try it out and see what happens. line breeding has the potential to bring out the best or not so desirable traits from both parents. either way the bunnies will be loved and as long as they are healthy they can go to new homes and have someone spoil them. i will also update the photo albums for each doe when they kindles hopefully we have lots of adorable kits <3 wish all four mommies luck.
Here at THUMPS~A~LOT we arent just about breeding. we also rescue bunnies in need. i dont know about you but i have always loved bunnies (what little girl doesnt). i always grew up with the lager breeds like the new zeland whites, and the rex. the reason i wanted to breed hollands is because they are so cute and pocket sized. i know sir thumps alot gets out alot during the spring and summer months. he goes to the pet store and the mall and the kids football/soccer/cheerleading games or even just to drive mommy to the store as you can see from the photo album. smaller is just easier especially when breeding haha. i have a hard time finding spots for six cages that fit the hollands let alone the size it would take to keep rex/mini lops/ or hares happy.but it wasnt until tonight when we rescued max our new mini lop that i remembered why i love the big bunnies. max is the sweetest little cuddle bug ever he's like a little puppy. unlike most rabbits having him in the car on my lap was no stress at all. i sat down in the passenger seat with max in hand he hunkered down curled into my arm and fell fast asleep. he has mats all over him and his toe nails are starting to curl around and he is far to skinny. his owners had a tea cup cor him to drink out of there is no way he could have fit his face into to drink. now he is in a nice new cage with new bowls fresh hay and he has had his nails cut tommorow we will brush and maybe bathe him iif its warmer. ill update maxs photo album tommorrow and give let you know how he's feeling. hopefully he will be much better :]
